London-Irish psycho-ceilidh band NECK bring their 'Hooley' to Whitwell Festival! An uplifting, intoxicating blend of the legendary punk sound fused with authentic traditional Irish music makes for a high-energy, kick-arse stage show.
If you've ever been a fan of The Pogues, The Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly, you will LOVE these!

The Killerz
We saw these guys at another festival last year and had to agree that they are, indeed, the UK's Number One Tribute to The Killers. The music, the look, and the energy the band create will make you think you're watching the real thing! Performing all the chart hits and putting on an awesome show.... we really can't wait to sing along to 'Mr Brightside'.

Famed for their hit, 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Please' in 1980, legendary punks Splodgenessabounds hit our main stage to bring this and other chart successes to Whitwell! Go and have a pogo down the front!!

Pete Bentham & the Dinner Ladies
Liverpudlian kitchencore band - catchy, quirky, primitive rock n roll. They've released four albums and played festivals all over the place. 'Make Scouse not war', they say. They will certainly make you smile.

James Warner Prophecies
They have won rock awards. They have toured all over the UK and Europe. They have played Whitwell twice before and are one of our favourite rock bands. They have vomited into bins mid-solo (not at Whitwell though). They've had a bit of a break over the last few years so we are absolutely DELIGHTED to get James Warner Prophecies back again.

Bag of Cans
Norwich-based, riff-enthused Bag of Cans have been described as a 'gloriously surreal mix of old school indie, Weimar Berlin cabaret and Kinks circa Village Green Preservation Society'. Known for their catchy songs and live antics they are a must-see!

Duncan Oakley
With musical skills that would easily fit into many rock bands Duncan Oakley performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up. With an eye and ear for the silly, rude, playful and downright irritating occurrences of life Duncan is a regular on the comedy club circuit, Edinburgh Fringe, and BBC Radio 4.
Easydread
Are you ready for some skanking? Easydread are a seven-piece conscious-rock-reggae band from Bedfordshire, bringing their influences of ska, rap, soul and punk to Whitwell. Sweet harmonies and heavy grooves to help you get into the rhythm.

Harri Larkin
MAIN STAGE OUTDOORS
Sheffield-based indie funk trio, Harri Larkin, bring fresh new music to Whitwell. The promising young outfit have been confirmed for the main stage of Tramlines Festival and have been broadcast numerous times on BBC Introducing. In a couple of years when they are massive, you'll be able to say that you first saw them here!
Bluebyrd
Folk music has a new urban twist with Midlands-based alt-folk duo Bluebyrd. Described as creators of 'tunes that glue themselves into your consciousness', Bluebyrd's songs cover a myriad of themes including errant lovers, refugees, social media and modern-day paranoias; all delivered through alluring melodies that you can't forget.

Last Edition
Last Edition are an exciting sax-fuelled, ska punk quartet from Leicester. Over the past decade, they've have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with the likes of Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, Anti-Flag, Sonic Boom 6, and Big D to name just a few. Heavily influenced by two-tone and third-wave ska, Last Edition’s live set boasts a high-energy ska punk sound that will leave you with a smile on your face.

GoggleHead
It's the first time at Whitwell for local band, GoggleHead. Their songs are motivated by environmental and political issues of the day with a heavy atmospheric feel to the music.

Concrete Rose
Giving the classic Jamaican roots reggae sound a modern twist, Nottingham's Concrete Rose are a new and exciting band on the scene. Festival bookings are flooding in for them, so we are honoured to be able to get them at Whitwell!

Sneakin' Stupidity
You may have seen local guys Sneakin' Stupidity at Whitwell Festival before. This year the four-piece will be returning with their tribute to the songs of Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson and other foot-stomping rhythm and blues.

Alan Brown
Local guitarist Alan Brown plays original compositions using loopers and effects to create melodic soundscapes that tell a story. Grab a drink and a chair, sit back and lose yourself in the music.

Ar Faoued
Folky favourites of Whitwell Festival: Chesterfield-based Ar Faoued are an acoustic band, playing a mix of original material and some traditional folk & covers of more contemporary material. Influences vary from progressive rock, classic rock, folk, bluegrass & classical.

Stinking Rita
First time at Whitwell Festival for Nottingham-based Stinking Rita. They bring a collision of dirty blues, trance jazz and funky improvised tunes for all you good souls. Get in the groove and enjoy.

Ukulele Bailey
Ukulele Bailey is a uke-playing oddball from Doncaster delivering a mixture of his own humorous double entendre laden ditties and some unexpectedly rocking covers and parodies on his little ukulele and kazoo.

Joel Fox
Local young talent comes in the form of Joel Fox, a modern singer-songwriter from Clowne, Chesterfield. Original songs and covers from the festival scene.

Mr. Benn
Fun and merriment from our favourite master of costumes, Mr. Benn. Expect the unexpected: Austin Powers, goofy vicars, Sherlock Holmes and lots more. Maybe even Frank Spencer might be compering our Main Stage....

Cathi Rae
Cathi Rae is an award winning poet, a multiple slam winner and spoken word artist performing throughout the UK. She has been published widely and her collection "Your cleaner hates you and other poems" was published by Soulful Publishing at the end of 2019. She has been described as " a spoken word icon" by Joelle Taylor and is trying hard to live up to this. Her work is small p political, quietly angry and tells the stories of people who don't often end up in poems.

Luke Atlas
Luke started writing and performing poetry at around 15 years old, since then he’s performed up and down the country and hosted his own open mic night in Mansfield. Over the last couple of years his style has grown and evolved to become much calmer and more hopeful, though still exploring his views on life, addiction and overcoming trauma.

Andrew 'Bart' Hawkins
Star Botherers frontman and lyrical genius, Andrew 'Bart' Hawkins will be hosting and performing on Stage 3. Expect spoken word and songs full of ire and passion - they may be political!

Tyler Turner
Tyler Turner is a freelance writer and historian from Creswell, Notts. She is the Creative Content Manager at Crags Radio is a soon-to-be PhD student, researching the Poetry of Working-Class Female identity in the British Coalfields. She wowed us with her performance poetry at our Winter Warmer event in March, so we just had to get her back again.

Lily May
Lily gained early notoriety in Whitwell by being a complete liability from a young age. Since then she has matured into an artiste famous for her lyrics and unique facial expressions.
